L’Autre de Sociando
Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc
Château Sociando-Mallet is located in the commune of Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne, about 12 Km north of Paulliac. After passing through the hands of several négociants, it is currently in the hands of Jean Gautreau.
The terroir here is made up of gravel over a deep sun soil of calcareous limestone that allows the Cabernet Sauvignon to mature in the best conditions and the Merlot to acquire depth and complexity, and all perfectly balanced. The property covers 110 hectares, 85 of which are comprised of vines.
The vineyards rest on the hilltop of Baleyron which surround the château. The exposure of the sun is optimal here for the vines, and is regularly cooled due to the proximity of the river and neighboring ocean regulating the local climate.
