Château Pape Clément

Grand Cru Classé de Grave

Château Pape Clément, located in Pessac, owes its name to its most famous owner – Pope Clément V. Born in Villandraut in 1264, in 1299 he was appointed Archbishop of Bordeaux by the Pope and with his appointment, he received this vineyard as a gift. Clément was appointed as the Pope in 1309.

In the 1980s, Bernard Magrez, an entrepreneur with a strong passion for wine, took over the Château and built an unprecedented international reputation for the Grand Cru Classé. Due to relentless hard work, constant exploration and remarkable terroir, Château Pape Clément continues each year to delight lovers with its exceptional quality.
